TV

Cycle 9 of America’s Next Top Model premiered on September 19. The initial group of 33 girls was whittled down to the competing 13 in the surprise location of San Juan, Puerto Rico. After returning to Los Angeles, the girls did an anti-smoking shoot that resulted in Mila’s elimination. (Wednesdays, 8 p.m. EST, The CW)

Season 4 of Project Runway will debut on Wednesday, November 14 at 10 p.m. EST on Bravo. BravoTV.com has posted bios and video previews of the designers.

The fifth and final season of Bravo’s Queer Eye begins on Tuesday, October 2 at 9 p.m. EST with a special “Straight Guy Pageant” premiere episode. Hosted by Susan Lucci, the contest will bring back some of the Fab Five’s former make-betters to compete for the “Ultimate Straight Guy” title. A typical 10 p.m. episode will follow the pageant.

Books

Legendary musician Eric Clapton looks back on his life in Clapton: The Autobiography. (Tuesday, October 9)

The Almost Moon: A Novel takes place over 24 hours, trailing a woman as she cracks emotionally. By Alice Sebold. (Sunday, October 16)

Patricia Cornwell’s blockbuster character, forensic pathologist Dr. Key Scarpetta, returns in Book of the Dead. In this outing, Scarpetta suspects a serial killer might be on the loose. (Tuesday, October 23)

Movies

Finishing the Game is a re-imagining of the struggle to finish the 1978 movie Game of Death after the death of its star, Bruce Lee. Starring Roger Fan, James Franco, and Dustin Nguyen. (Friday, October 8)

Cate Blanchett returns as Elizabeth I in Elizabeth: The Golden Age, which focuses on the queen’s relationship with Sir Walter Raleigh (Clive Owen). (Friday, October 15)

Reservation Road stars Joaquin Phoenix and Mark Ruffalo as fathers whose paths cross as they struggle with family tragedies. Also starring Jennifer Connelly. (Friday, October 19)
